The Office of the Children's Guardian monitors the number of times a child or young person accesses voluntary out-of-home care. This enables us to identify where additional supports to the family or formalised planning for longer-term placements may be needed.
The Voluntary Out-of-home Care (VOOHC) Register is a secure online database that records information about a child or young person accessing voluntary out-of-home care.
The register is updated by agencies that provide direct care or, in the case of supervision or case planning, the responsible designated agency. Agencies that are registered to provide voluntary out-of-home care will receive a secure login and password to access the register.
A User Manual (PDF 573.8KB) provides step-by-step instructions on how to use the register. A Quick Guide (PDF 209.5KB) provides information about how to enter placement, case planning or supervision information.
