Application package for statutory out-of-home care and adoption

If your organisation is considering applying for accreditation to provide statutory out-of-home care or adoption services in NSW, please contact the Accreditation & Monitoring Team at accreditation@kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au 

The following resources will help guide your organisation through the accreditation process. You will need to be familiar with all these documents before making an application to enter the accreditation program.

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for agencies that wish to apply for accreditation to provide statutory out-of-home care or adoption services in NSW.

Accreditation renewal - information for agencies (pdf 881.9KB)
Agencies must be accredited by the NSW Children’s Guardian to provide statutory out-of-home care (OOHC) services for children and young people in NSW. It is illegal for an organisation to provide or arrange statutory or supported OOHC services in NSW unless it holds current accreditation from the NSW Children’s Guardian.

Accreditation self assessment tool: Statutory out-of-home care and adoption (docx 109.1KB)
Use of the accreditation self assessment tool is recommended, but not a requirement for accreditation. It provides a guide to assess policies, procedures and practice against the NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care. It is designed to help agencies to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Evidence index: Statutory out-of-home care and adoption services (docx 107.2KB)
Lists the NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care and criteria against which agencies' evidence will be assessed. Agencies are required to use the evidence index to identify and locate evidence which complies with the assessment criteria of each standard.
