The risk of child abuse is present in any organisation that provides services to children. The Child Safe Standards were recommended by the Royal Commission into Institutional Child Sexual Abuse to reduce the risk of abuse and harm to children in organisations. The Child Safe Standards have been designed so they can be applied flexibly across all organisational settings to improve the safety of children.
The risk of child abuse in organisations is determined by a number of factors such as the nature of the service, the age of the children accessing the service and the culture of the organisation.
This webinar will:
- provide an overview of risk of abuse and harm to children in family day care
discuss how to apply the standards to reduce this risk of abuse. There will be a focus on recruitment, screening, induction and reporting.
prompt services to review their unique risks and reflect on how they can apply the standards
The final module of the Child Safe Standards Series after this webinar is the Panel Discussion on 29 October. The panel discussion will explore current best practice, gaps in organisational child safety and challenges in applying the standards.
Please note, there is no certificate for this webinar and is not associated with NESA professional development.
