By verifying an applicant for a Working With Children Check clearance the employer is confirming that the applicant is employed, or is to be employed, in child-related work (including as a volunteer). An employer should verify an applicant ONLY where the work is child-related. If the applicant is not in child-related work, the Office of the Children’s Guardian will not be able to disclose information about the applicant to you.
By verifying an application number you will be informed if the applicant has been refused a Working With Children Check clearance, has had a clearance cancelled, or is subject to an interim bar that prevents him or her from being employed in child-related work.
A barred person or a person who has had their application for a Working with Children clearance refused WILL NOT be given a Working With Children Check clearance number.
