When to renew your WWC number

Renewals start March 2018

The Working With Children Check lasts for five so renewals will begin from March 2018 for those who first applied in 2013.

When it is time to renew your WWC number, you will receive an email explaining what you need to do.

The Office of the Children's Guardian will email holders of a WWC number three months before their expiry date. Renewals cannot be processed until you receive your email alert.

A WWC number is like a driver licence – the number stays with you and is renewed before it expires. Do not reapply – you simply renew, and your WWC number will remain valid for another five years.

Make sure you are ready

Find your expiry date and WWC number in the email you received after you first applied. If you have lost your number, go to kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au/check/apply and choose “Find your WWC number”. Your number and expiry date will be emailed to you.

If you do not receive an email, first check your Junk folder. If you still cannot find the email it may be because there is an issue with the information you entered, or your details have changed since you first applied.

In that case, either update your details using the “Update your details” option, or call our customer service team on 02 9286 7219.

How much it costs

Renewal is free for a volunteer WWC number. Renewal for a paid employment WWC number costs $80.

Any future increases to the current fee for the Working With Children Check will reflect CPI increases only.

Renew, do not reapply

Do not reapply, as you may be charged another application fee, and this will not be refunded.

If in doubt, call us: a single call could save you $80.
