NSW Standards for Statutory Out-of-Home Care

The NSW Standards for Statutory Out-of-Home Care are used by the Children’s Guardian for the accreditation and quality improvement of statutory out-of-home care services in NSW.
The original Standards that were implemented in 2003 were reviewed during 2008 -09. As a result of this review, the 2010 NSW Standards for Statutory Out-of-Home Care modernise and simplify those that have underpinned accreditation and quality improvement for the past seven years.
The Standards establish minimum requirements for accreditation as a designated agency and also provide a framework for continuous improvement in the quality of statutory out-of-home care services.
The Standards and the manner in which performance against them is assessed will not stay static – they will evolve as legislation changes and new research is published.
