The following resources will help guide your agency through the accreditation process. It is recommended that you become familiar with all the documents before applying to enter the accreditation program
|The Application Package includes the following documents:|
This guide explains step-by-step what your agency needs to do to participate in the accreditation program. The following two documents also provide a brief explanation of the accreditation process.
Agencies intending to provide out-of-home care to children and young people in NSW must first be accredited by the Children’s Guardian. This document provides an overview of the accreditation process.
Reaccreditation applies only to designated agencies that are currently accredited and are providing statutory out-of-home care in NSW. This document provides an overview of the reaccreditation process for designated agencies.
Your agency is required to complete this form when it applies for accreditation. You can download the form here or contact the office for a copy on 02 8219 3600 or email email@example.com
The Evidence Index lists the NSW Standards for Statutory Out-of-Home Care and assessment criteria, against which your agency’s evidence will be assessed. Your agency is required to use the Evidence Index to identify and locate evidence which complies with the assessment criteria of each Standard.
These Standards are used by the Children’s Guardian for the accreditation of statutory out-of-home care services in NSW. The Standards establish minimum requirements for accreditation and also provide a framework for continuous improvement in the quality of statutory out-of-home care services. Go to Standards page >>
The Information Sheets accompany the Standards. They include reference to the legislative requirements in NSW and current research findings in Australia and overseas. Each Information Sheet relates to one or more Standards. You can download individual Information Sheets or you can download a combined copy of all Information Sheets in one document. Go to Information Sheets
The Children’s Guardian has prepared guidelines required by the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998. These provide important guidance for designated agencies and authorised carers to fulfil their responsibilities under the legislation.
Use of the Accreditation Self Assessment Tool is recommended, but is not a requirement for accreditation. The Tool provides a guide for the agency to evaluate and assess its policies, procedures and practice against the Standards. It is designed as a tool to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. You can download the tool here or contact the office for a copy on 02 8219 3600 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
